Morgane Heyse, French-German coloratura soprano, was born in a bilingual and music-loving family. After years of studying the viola and playing in numerous orchestras, her passion for singing brought her to Belgium ; first to Liège, where she studied at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège and obtained a master's degree in Lyrical Arts and a teaching degree in Lyrical Arts and Singing, then to Ghent, where she graduated in 2017 from the International Opera Academy.

 

Her flexible voice allows her to travel with great pleasure through an eclectic repertoire and sing pieces from the Renaissance period to contemporary music.

Morgane sang the roles of Aspasia (Mitridate, Re di Ponto) as the understudy of Lenneke Ruiten (La Monnaie/De Munt) conducted by Christophe Rousset, Papagena (Die Zauberflöte at the Kunsthuis Opera Vlaanderen), Nina (Il giovedì grasso) at the Armel Opera Festival 2017, Orasia (Orpheus), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Sivene (Le Cinesi), Premier Esprit (Cendrillon), la Princesse et la Pastourelle (L'Enfant et les sortilèges) et Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte).

Morgane also loves to sing the operetta repertoire and sang the role of Ernestine (Mr. Choufleuri) and Inès (Les Bavards) with the Brussels Operette Theater.

 

During the 2017/2018 season, Morgane sang the role of Makiko for the world premiere of Pascal Zavaro’s first opera Manga-Café, a production of the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, where she also sang the role of Girl in Trouble in Tahiti by L. Bernstein.

She also made a remarqued debut as Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) in the Holland Opera production Zauberflöte Requiem.

 

This season, Morgane made her debut at the Volksoper Wien in the demanding role of Maid in
Thomas Ades' opera Powder her face and sang the role of Katherina Cavalieri in the Opera 2 Day's production of the play Amadeus.


For the 2019/2020 season, Morgane will perform at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie / De Munt in the roles of Soeur de Palomides and Servante, for the world premiere of the last opera by the French composer Benjamin Attahir (Le silence des ombres), will sing again the role of the Queen of the Night in a production by Opera Zuid and will tour the Netherlands with the role of Katherina Cavalieri in Amadeus ( Opera 2 Day ).

 

Indeed, with the complicity of her mentor, Jean-Pierre Peuvion, Morgane specialised in contemporary music and took part in numerous world premieres and festivals, where she sang works by composers such as Cage, Scelsi, Berio, Takemitsu, Bartholomée, Mernier, Riadis, De Jaer, Peuvion, Colin, Cominotto…

The reason why Morgane loves contemporary music so much is that it allows her to experiment with her voice, pushing her limits further and discovering new uncharted musical territories.

 

Morgane also sang in various oratorio: Johannes Passion (J-S Bach), Messiah (G. F. Haendel), Messe solennelle en l'honneur de Ste Cécile (Ch. Gounod), Stabat Mater (G. B. Pergolesi), Magnificat (A. Vivaldi), Requiem (G. Fauré).

 

She is a fervent performer of art songs (A. Schönberg, A. Copland, A. Dvorak, G. Holst, T. Takemitsu, A. von Zemlinski, L. Bernstein… ) and explorer of forgotten works by Porpora, Fiocco, Campra, Couperin or Rameau. 

With pianist Annie Lantin, Morgane forms the Calypso Duo, specializing in bringing funny, witty and original art songs to neophyte audiences.

 

The artist won the Best Performer Price at the Armel Opera Festival (2017), the role of Sofia (The Mother) at the Armel Opera Competition (2016), third price at the 7th Concours lyrique international Bell'Arte (2015), was a half-finalist in the Voix Nouvelles 2018 competition and finalist in the SummerFest Europe competition (2013).

 

Morgane is featured on the new CD of contemporary art songs by J-P. Peuvion, Chansons Indigo, on the live recording of Manga-café (role of Makiko) and sings the role of La Statue in Pygmalion by JPh. Rameau in the new CD of Apotheosis, directed by Korneel Bernolet.
